"Gender, Violence, and Health":  A Lecture by activist, author, and filmmaker Byron HurtTuesday, March 5, 2013 Price and Turpen Courtroom, TU Law School 7:30-9:00 p.m. An award-winning documentary filmmaker, a published writer, and an anti-sexist activist, Byron Hurt has served as a long-time gender violence prevention educator and was a founding member of the Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) program, the leading college-based rape and domestic violence prevention initiative for college and professional athletics.  Hurt has lectured at hundreds of campuses, presented at numerous professional conferences, and trained thousands of young men and women on issues related to gender, race, sex, violence, music, and visual media.  He has written several essays and been featured in numerous media outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Chicago Tribune.  He has also appeared or been heard on CNN, Access Hollywood, MTV, BET, ABC News World Tonight, The Montel Williams Show, The Michael Baisden Show, and The Michael Eric Dyson Show.All events are open to the public.   Contact: Dr. Jan Wilson jan-wilson@utulsa.edu 918-631-2410
