Love is an appropriate subject for Valentine's Day, but sometimes love takes us places we don't quite expect. Such is the case with this concert: three musical works offer three different ideas of love. Leoš Janáèek based his Second String Quartet on the deep but platonic relationship he carried on with a younger woman over the course of some 700 letters. Nicky's Trio, by Carter Pann, was inspired by the composer's imaginative young nephew; the composer himself will be on hand to discuss his piano trio at the concert. Rounding out the evening is Arnold Schoenberg's Transfigured Night, a lush and romantic string sextet that accompanies Richard Dehmel's expressionist poem on the transformative power of love. $5-$20 * contact the Presenting Organization listed below for ticketing information
