Comedy! Parody! Satire! Audience participation theater--with beer!
In a benefit for Camp Quest Oklahoma, Sam Singleton Atheist Evangelist returns to the Nightingale Theater, 1416 E. 4th Street,
for a performance of his participatory theater piece Revival,
Saturday, December 1, at 7:00 p.m. “Brother Sam” played the
Nightingale on his last Tulsa appearance in May, 2011.
All proceeds benefit Camp Quest Oklahoma, which “provides an educational adventure shaped by fun, friends and freethought, featuring science, natural wonder and humanist values.”
Author-actor Roger Scott Jackson, who wrote and performs the participatory theater piece, says, “Revival is a satiric enactment
of an old time revival meeting like Brother Sam went to as a boy.
It has music, testimonies, a sermon, all the things you’d expect,
except God. And the audience takes part throughout.”
More than a thousand people attended the show’s premiere last November. Since then it has toured the U.S. and Canada, along with
Singleton’s other one-man shows, Patriarchs and Penises, Too Big
for God, and If the Ocean was Whiskey and God was a Duck.
San Francisco blogger Greta Christina said, “(Revival) is a hoot
and a holler . . . laced with serious ideas, wild humor, and invective that’s like a razor blade dipped in venom.” $10 advance www.samsingleton.com $15 at the door. VIP ticket: $25 includes beer, and gifts from Brother Sam.
