2013 Williams Route 66 Marathon & Half MarathonThe 8th annual Williams Route 66 Marathon presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma will be held on Nov. 23-24, 2013. The events include a marathon, half marathon, marathon relay, 5K and 1-mile course. All courses tour through the most scenic and historic streets of Tulsa, Oklahoma –lined with supportive spectators, encouraging water stops and course entertainment. To complete the weekend of activities, the Mascot Dash offers an amusing family feature for all ages. The Center of the Universe Detour offers a free and optional detour to a unique Tulsa landmark, adding .3 miles to the race. Participants who finish the detour receive a special commemorative coin. Walkers are welcome in all Williams Route 66 Marathon races, and marathon pace groups are available. The Williams Route 66 Marathon has received numerous awards for its medals. After finishing second and third the last two years, the 2011 finisher medal was ranked number one among North American marathon medals by Marathon & Beyond magazine. First time marathoners receive a special “My First Marathon” Finisher’s Medal. Special medals are also available for members of 50-States Marathon Club and Marathon Maniacs. In addition, members of the Marathon Maniacs, Half Fanatics and 50-States Marathon Club experience special perks at the Maniac Corner, which features added race day benefits including a VIP tent with private restrooms, gear check and refreshments.Whether it’s your first marathon or your 50th marathon, this race will meet your highest expectations.
