Billy Joel is celebrating his 40th anniversary as a recording artist with a pair of classic re-issues -- an expanded Legacy Edition of his self-titled debut album and a 15-disc Complete Albums Collection. Both will be available on October 8th.

• The Legacy Edition of Billy Joel packs both a re-mastered copy of the original 10-song release and his famed 1972 performance at Philadelphia's Sigma Sound Studios. That so-called "underground" recording made his "Captain Jack" a hit in the Philadelphia area and brought him to the attention of Columbia Records, which signed him shortly afterward.
• The Complete Albums Collection features all 14 of his original albums, plus a bonus disc of rarities, outtakes and live cuts never included on his LPs or CDs.
