Elton John will step out from behind his piano to deliver the keynote address at the 14th International AIDS Conference on July 23rd in Washington, D.C.
In other Elton news, he was forced to cut short his show short the other night in Blackpool, England because of the threat of strong winds. At two hours into his set, which started 30 minutes late because of the inclement weather, he told the 11,000 in attendance, "I have been told there is some really bad weather on the way, the police say you need to leave right now in an orderly fashion. I'm sorry but I don't want anyone to be hurt." It was Elton's first show in Blackpool in 20 years. Up next is Nice, France on Friday. --Sal Cirrincione
