(Tulsa, OK) – They’re ready for the big dance at the BOK Center. Tulsa’s arena is one of the sites hosting rounds two and three of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Tulsa Sports Commission Executive Director Ray Hoyt says this is one of the rewards for building the arena. “It’s kind of the payoff for the community for investing a center like this.”
Hoyt feels it is not a question of if but when the tournament will make another appearance in Tulsa. He says they have already started work to bring the tournament back.
Hoyt says this is also a chance for Tulsa to shine. “It’s one of those places where I don’t think a lot of people have it on their radar. It’s our opportunity to show them a cool time and what Tulsa has to offer.”
Hoyt also likes the teams Tulsa drew. He says he expects Kansas, Texas, Arizona and Memphis fans to travel well.
Hoyt says to expect downtown Tulsa to be very busy. He’s predicting between 70,000 and 100,000 people will pass through downtown this weekend.
