By Richard Dowdell

Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin admitted there are still issues facing women who hope to make a mark in business. Issues like equal pay for equal work and advancement to executive status.

During a recent business forum the first woman elected to be the State of Oklahoma "CEO" said progress is being made. Governor Fallin said 15% of Fortune 500 companies are either run by a woman or at least have women on their board of directors. Fallin said while that is an improvement from just a few years ago she would like to see that percentage climb.

The greatest opportunity for woman to get into the business world in her opinion is in small business. Governor Fallin said small business is leading the way in regards to being created, started, and run by woman.

In a message geared to young women hoping to get into the corporate world, Governor Fallin urged them to get the education needed that in turn can open the doors to corporate America and crack the glass ceiling.
